I thought I would also include a specific list of my symptoms associated with this problem.

-fatigue and drowsiness
-heavy pressure in my chest upon waking up
-waking up short of breath
-waking up sweating profusely
-jerking while sleeping (my wife says I do this quite a bit)
-sore muscles upon waking up, particularly in my legs and chest
-difficulty waking up in the morning, even after 8+ hours of sleep
-difficulty falling asleep at night (often it takes 30-60 minutes)
-tendency to fall asleep easily during the day (in class or at work)

There are a few other things that may or may not be related. I'll list them just in case.
-chronic heartburn (as in all day long, every day, I've had this problem since I was a child); this has been diagnosed as acid reflux disorder and I have taken prilosec OTC (which I now take regularly) and protonix for it, both have alleviated the problem
-mild appetite (I usually eat one meal a day and may snack on potato chips, soda, fruit, yogurt, or candy a few times during the day)
-allergies and intermittant sinus congestion (I also tend to get colds, or what seem like colds, at least twice a month)
