There are a few people on the forum who get so excited about their heated humidifiers that they think it is necessary for everyone, but no, they are not necessary for everyone and should be used as needed. I've been in both camps...when I first started CPAP I didn't need a heated humidifier, but got one with a new package, and once in a while (usually during winter) find I need the thing.
