From what I understand doctors don't usually prescribe a CPAP for cases of mild sleep apnea. which I believe is less the 4 apneas an hour. I could be wrong on that but I remember hearing it somewhere. But what my doctor did tell me is that once you have apnea it does not go away, and typically it will get worse in severty over time. I went undiagnosed for years (at least 10, that was first time some one told me I stopped breathing in my sleep) but I know that by the time I knew I need to go to the doctors about it, my condition was a lot worse then back 10 yrs before. So even if the doctor wont prescribe a CPAP at this point I imagine it will be in the future, I guess it needs to be monitored and when it gets bad enough you'll get treated. I know that doesn't help if you want a CPAP, and I do think that CPAP will work with mild apnea but like the other post said, it maybe that you would not notice enough difference to want to wear a mask and hose conected to a machine everynight if it did not seem to make a difference.
