I re-read your comment pertaining to the "fine print" and felt obligated to add the following...
I did not read my contract from the DME to see if there was "fine print" but regardless the key to this is on the insurance side. My insurance company defines the rates for the supplies. My DME supplier is required to accept this rate in order to be able to do business with the insurance company. My DME has stated to me that each insurance company is different. For the same one device they might receive $100 fron one insurance company and over $1000 from another insurance company.
Bottom line, in my case is that fine print or no fine print I do not have to pay an open ended bill that the DME decides to dream up... no pun intended. I would find it hard to believe that other insurance companies would not have the same or similar controls and would allow open ended billing.. but maybe they do. I guess a phone call to your insurance company might help answer this question.
