The chemical you refer to is actually cortisol, not cortisone.

It is definitely implicated in weight gain. Other things that can raise it include severe and prolonged stress, adrenal issues etc.

If it is raised by untreated OSA, then that would explain why so many OSA sufferers cannot lose weight regardless of effort.
