The people at the clinic should not have been messing with the altitude compensation to make the machine produce at a higher output- they should be instead getting the proper (Bi-PAP) machine. But, sounds like that is starting to happen.

Your boyfriend needs to start losing some weight also to help bring down the pressure requirements. Once he has gotten a proper machine for his needs and things have stabilized, he should be discussing with his doctor the anti-depressant use, since most anti-depressants interfear with REM sleep and should be used in only the worse of situations.
