Uric acid to evaluat UPPP treatment

Posted by Alamo Joe on April 19, 2006 at 20:56:56:

Would you believe: A paper measured uric acid before and after UPPP surgery to determine effectiveness of UPPP on sleep apnea. Other papers talk about a linear relation between AHI and levels of uric acid.

Uric acid crystalization causes gout. CPAP treatment also lowers uric acid concentrations.

Yes, I have concluded that sleep apnea causes gout.

The literature states that obese men are likely patients, but the few women who develop gout develop gout after menopause.
