another Autopap update (help, plez)

Posted by adjusted on May 03, 2006 at 17:13:48:

I went to see my DME on Monday with my Resmed data card and machine. He put the whole thing on the computer and determined that with my 4-20 settings I was still having a lot of apneas (more than 20 for the night). It looked like what was happening was that I would be sleeping fine, so the pressure would go down, then I'd have an apnea and the pressure would go back up. So he changed my pressure to a low of 10 and a high of 20, since the data looked like I was pretty solidly around 10-12.

So I bought the software and cardreader, and now I have the software, etc. at home, and I've looked at my last two nights. I'm still having apneas, the first night there were 5 and the next night there were 12 (it showed some leaks the second night). Yet my pressure still hovers between 10 and 12. What does this mean? Is it customary to still have a few apneas even when using an apap? Is 12 considered too many? How would I ask him to change the machine to improve this? I'm not experiencing daytime sleepiness, but I still woke up with a slight headache this morning.

I'd appreciate any insight.
