I had to switch to a full-face mask a few years ago and really liked it--for a while.

Over the last year or so I have experienced a gradual return to apnea symptoms, especially daytime sleepiness and groggines. In fact, I fell asleep at the wheel once and woke up driving 70 mph in the median of the Interstate on cruise control. That experience sent me back to the sleep doc right away! For some reason I wasn't getting enough pressure through my nose and mouth to keep my airway open enough. Now I'm back to a nasal mask and am doing nasal irrigation twice a day and am on Rhinocort. I'm doing well so far and I highly recommend irrigation. Since I can now get enough air through my nose, my mouth no longer needs to open during sleep.

My advice to everyone is to be sensitive toward sleep apnea symptoms and make sure your sleep apnea doesn't gradually sneak back unnoticed. After 10 years on cpap I think I stopped paying as much attention as I should have to the return of symptoms
