Yes, at least a "waking sedation" is used for colonoscopies and if they have to remove anything, they'll put you into a deeper sedation. A CPAP isn't needed for this anymore, although it's still on the instruction forms sometimes (I know from experience). If they put you into a deeper sedation, they'll put you on an oxygen mask which will have a similar effect to a CPAP -- that's what the docs told me. It doesn't sound like you really have OSA, although the sleep study is a good idea. I bet your doctors were really suggesting you don't use any sedation to help you sleep until they figure out the breathing problem.
