Hi Fred, I had no idea anything but sleep apnea could cause breathing problems. I don't have any heart problems, I do have asthma, but it is under control. It happened again last night, I woke up and it felt like my throat was closed off and I couldn't breathe. I had to sit up and gasp for breath, and then I could breathe again. Very strange and scary, sometimes this happens every night, sometimes it doesn't happen for a while. Could this still be sleep apnea? I am sure it doesn't help that I am allergic and my nose is stuffed up a lot.
