Thanks Roger!
I knew I should have known what it meant, but since I had bad REM-centric apnea prior to surgery, arousal index never registered as a problem.I know that I am still not sleeping well post surgery/recovery, and now with your info regarding arousal index, this makes a lot of sense. If I am still waking up 20x/hr or more naturally I won't feel too great the next morning.
I really appreciate the last part of your statement. I strongly believe that you are right and that obstructive breathing is still causing the problem for me. Prior to surgery I had mostly hypopneas - which appear to have been mitigated into lesser hypopneas, that like you said, don't meet the definition.
This will give me some foundation for when I talk to my doc (who happens to work with yours).
Thanks again,
shootp.s. I'm going to send you an email about something I just read on your blog.
