I tried the "fixed" for two plus years. The centrals it caused or at least increased and fighting the mask (went through 7) helped put me into a little claustrophobia. I went off of flow generator therapy for a while then tried bipap and autopap. However, the damage (claustrophobia) was already with me. I gave up the machine, had tongue advancement, hyoid suspension and jaw adavancment surgery a couple of years ago. The obstructive events are now ZERO per hour. If you can't find a machine that works for you, investigate the surgical option to get away from the tether. I am glad I did.
