letter justifying APAP with C-flex

Posted by eyedoc on May 22, 2006 at 12:33:22:

I like my sleep Doctor. I don't think he has the experience to write a letter justifying to my insurance the need for a APAP with C-Flex.

I have not found guideline covering such.

Situation is as follows. Pressure necessary to prevent hypopneas varies with sleep position and depth of sleep. Varies from 4 early on in evening (light sleep) side sleeping to 15 early morning (deep sleep) on back. As I am going to sleep or returning to sleep, the extra effort to exhale on straight APAP keeps me awake and uncomfortable.

Are there any examples of such letters (successful) on the forum or elsewhere that have been used to convince the insurance company of the medical necessity of APAP with C-Flex.

Thanks for your assitance.

Tom
