Posted by windowshaker on May 23, 2006 at 18:11:47:Hello,
I felt lucky to of found this Forum. Thank-you!I'm 6 foot one, 280lbs. Normal weight 240. 19 inch neck, formerly very active now 48. Take strong painkillers and 3000mg Neurontin/day. I know this adds to current symptoms or slow breathing. Hydrostatic impact in spinal column caused dammage to spine, discomfort, mobility ect.
Two recent sleep studies found I need to be on 2-4,lpm o2 & Bipap. Was sold a Nasal mask, renting a Resp Bipap s/t non-ramping at 11-20. 1st night I was desperate, I slept a couple hours. I can not stand that mask, chin strap or treatment. I am a confirmed mouth breather and am going to order a "Ultra Mirage" Full Face since that was the 1 of 2 my measurements called for. The 431 ffm 431 was the other which has mixed reviews here. Ok choice? Will a ramp feature help me get over the "hump", so to speak?
I feel compelled to order-buy a Bipap W/Ramp S/T Machine since my PPO provider only has this older non-ramp thru insurance Blue Cross/Blue Shield.
What about the: New Respironics Synchrony s/t $2,100, or the Resp. Bipap S/T with Encore $2,100, or DeVilbiss RPM $1,000,
We have, well no money left. Will have to charge this purchase. I just bought a Millenium 5liter/hr sine the 590 O2 concentrator noise drives me nuts. $450 delivered with 10 hours on the meter.Trying not to make a major purchase decision I'd regret.
What Machine may of worked for you? Must be Spon-Timed/S-T and mask feed back on 431 or Ultra Mirage FFM?
Feeling desperate maybe afraid, alone.
:)Thanks in advance for any direction or input.
