Posted by luvs2sleep on May 25, 2006 at 16:05:28:I just got the results from my sleep study... Now I am more confused..... They should give out a dictionary with the results, I am hoping that someone can help!
I have felt awful for the past 3 years, extreme fatigue. From one Dr to another to figure out why I feel so bad all of the time.
These were my results........
Total sleep time 327 minutes. Total time in bed 354.5 minutes. Sleep efficiency 92.2%. Sleep latency was normal at 16.5 minutes.
Sleep efficiency 92.2%, what does this mean?
Sleep stage analysis: 5.8% Stage I sleep, 72.3% Stage II sleep, 2.3% Stage III sleep and 19.6% Stage IV sleep. This is notable for the increased amount of Stage II sleep and the lack of REM sleep.
There were a total of 352 respiratory events during the evening including 48 obstructive apneas and 204 hypopneas. The mean duration of respiratory event is 20.8 seconds, maximum duration 50.5 seconds. The overall RDI for the entire evening was 46.2 events per hour.
What are hypopneas? What does this all mean?
Sleep stage analysis was not possible as the patient did not achieve REM sleep.
So basically I did not get any REM sleep???
Mean saturation during respiratory event was 94% with a minimum sat of 91%.
Please explain what this means????
Body positional analysis was not possible as the patient spent the entire evening in the supine position.
Very mild snoring was seen. No significant arrhythmias were seen. No PLMs were seen.
PLMs???
There were a total of 265 arousals during the evening. 99 were associated with respiratory events without desaturations, 96 were associated with respiratory events with desaturations and 70 were spontaneous.
With / without desaturations????
IMPRESSION: Severe obstructive sleep apnea.
I would appreciate any help with my sleep study. My doctor signed my up for another sleep study with CPAP therapy.
Thanks in advance!
