Birdwatcher, you make a good point. My aim is not to criticize United Airlines, and I certainly do appreciate the importance of emphasis on safety. When I took the airplane, the staff was very thorough. They put my CPAP machine through special procedures (wiping it with special cloths and passing the cloths through a machine, probably to analyse it for hazards. As a passenger, I am happy that they are so thorough. I think the CPAP machines can be screened and thoroughly examined in the same way that a lap top computer or other item can be examined. To my mind the safety and utility are two different things. I am writing in hopes that the airlines could help us who have to take long flights. I think that protection from terrorism could be accomplished and also CPAP usage could be accomodated. Finally, let me say that I am sorry about 9/11. Must have been hard to work for UA. at the time. Hope you came through it okay.
