I agree with Fred that you need to be patient and allow yourself more time to get used to the masks. Hundreds of tips for success have been posted on these forums and are worthy of consideration. I've been on CPAP for eleven years and have had plenty of challenges throughout. Here are some general suggestions that made a big difference for me:
1. Adjust the headgear carefully. It could take lots of tiny adjustments over a period of time to get the headgear fitted so it isn't too tight or too loose, is comfortable and doesn't leak.
2. Keep the mask and your skin clean and oil-free. Always wash your face before bed and make sure the mask is oil-free. You may even have to wash your face in the middle of the night, but that will do a lot to keep your mask comfortable and leak-free.
3. Keep your airway free and clear. I am currently relying on nasal irrigation and Rhinocort and they're working well for me, despite my tendency toward swollen turbinates and difficulty with nose breathing
4. Finally, be patient. Don't fight the CPAP--accept it as a new part of your life.CPAP is far from perfect and I get really mad at mine sometimes, but it does work and it does save lives. Hang in there!
