You can't just stick your finger over the hose and see if the pressure goes up, it's WAY more complicated than that. There's an elaborate algorithm that looks for changes in flow rate, vibration, etc. The software also attempts to compensate for the mask, hose length, humidity, leaks, etc. Some machines also detect breathing cycle time and produce decreased pressure on exhale.
You need get them to download the data and see what it looks like. Even then, AutoPAP data is not as good as a real study with the techs tweaking the pressure while watching the sensors.
Anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it :)
