cpap choking and sickness

Posted by chiqid on June 09, 2006 at 19:19:54:

I wake up about 3-4 hours after falling asleep with my CPAP on and my dental device in. I am choking and coughing. I also am one of those folks that never gets colds or sick. Since I have had this thing, I have had deep coughing spells and that 'sounds like a cold' nasal voice. It's been 6 weeks since I started using the CPAP. I try every night, but after 3 or so hours...I'm awakened with the coughing and choking and I hate this barking cough I have developed. It has a humidifier and I live in the south and only have a room air conditioner to deal with the heat. It has a ramp time of 15 mins and it is on a low setting ..8 or so.
Any suggestions?
