Awakening with a jolt

Posted by Bookie on January 05, 2007 at 19:31:42:

I'm gradually getting adjusted to my BiPAP machine (a Resmed Vpap III). The archives of sleepnet have been a huge help in that process. I switched from nose pillows to a full face mask a few weeks ago due to an inability to keep my mouth shut while asleep. The mask is feeling more comfortable, but I'm very bothered by a little jolt that occurs when the pressure changes with each exhale and inhale. My pressure is fairly high (11/17), and the jolt only occurs at higher pressures. I'll talk to the tech about it, or my doctor, but I thought I'd run it by this forum. I get to sleep fine while the machine is ramping, and I sleep with the jolts for a few hours. But when I wake up during the night, I have to restart the ramping in order to return to sleep because the jerking of the mask is so annoying at the full pressure. Any suggestions?
