Everyone has problems with ear popping and keeping their mouths closed, and air coming out of their mouths, etc. You will gradually adjust and things will get better, but even after two years I still ocassionally have these problems. I think it's just part of the deal. I use a nasal prong mask, which is similar to nasal pillows (or is it the same? Anyone know?) I like it a lot and it sounds like it would work well for you, since it doesn't create the sense that it's covering your face; it just rests on your upper lip. My setting is 12 and it works fine. It would be worth looking into. Best wishes! Stick with it. It'll take a few weeks or months, but when you're sleeping better, you'll feel better, and you probably won't feel so depressed.
