I am also insured with Aetna. Here is something to consider re: the rent/own issue:

Aetna terminated its contract with the DME provider. This, after Aetna "rented" my CPAP from them for 10 months. After 10 months, the CPAP was supposed to be owned by Aetna. Now my DME provider tells me it still owns the CPAP, and it is charging me a biannual maintenance fee for the equipment. Go figger. Maybe I'll send my DME a bill for my car maintenance.

My machine is an F&P HC 234. This comes with a nice travel case and a built-in warmed humidifier. I've seen them on the INET for $322 just recently.

You might consider buying one and then sending a copy of the receipt to Aetna. They will pay 50% if you bought from a non-participating provider and 80% if you bought from a partipating provider.

You will own the machine and won't be left high and dry by an uscrupulous DME provider or by Aetna.
