I have a similar situation, and some interesting MSLT results as well.

Results Before CPAP:
Diagnosis: Mild upper airway resistance syndrome (8-10 episodes per hour) leading to alpha-intrusion/hyperarousal

Symptoms: Always either very tired, foggy, or spacey.

Nighttime sleep breakdown
- Stage 1: 14%
- Stage 2: 67%
- Stage 3: 7%
- Stage 4: 0%
- REM: 12%

Daytime nap study
- MSLT = 6.8 minutes

Results with CPAP:
- I have no problem falling and staying asleep with CPAP. It's inconvenient, for sure, but I have no problems tolerating it.
- Resistance episodes gone; alpha-intrusions gone; sleeping "beautifully" (from a clinical perspective)

Nighttime sleep breakdown
- Stage 1: 1%
- Stage 2: 50%
- Stage 3: 15%
- Stage 4: 20%
- REM: 14%

These results are dramatically different with CPAP!

However, daytime nap study
- MSLT = 8.2 minutes
- Only a very minor increase in MSLT
- This slight increase is not even statistically significant and, if real, may only be due to getting about 40 more minutes of sleep the night I used CPAP.

How I feel using CPAP:
- Still extremely tired, mentally drained/foggy and/or spacey.

Does anyone out there have any clue as to why my sleep is now "beautiful" clinically, due to CPAP, but I still don't feel refreshed after sleep? If anything, I feel slightly worse/more tired with CPAP!

The doc is surprised by these results and still looking into it. He's going to prescribe Monafidil as a band-aid, and it remains to be seen if it will help at all or not. I'd really rather try to get to the bottom of this instead of just trying yet another med, so if anyone has had a similar experience please share!

I'll post any lessons I learn going forward...

Thanks
