I tend to weigh in on the side of those who wonder whether we ever catch up on sleep debt. FWIW, I have recently been able to successfully incorporate exercise into my daily routine and I'm sleeping better and feeling much more energetic. The interesting thing to me is that five years ago after I'd been on CPAP for several months, I began exercising even though I still felt really tired. At that time, I just became more and more tired and gave up pushing myself to exercise when I reached a Friday night where all I wanted to do was cry and go to sleep.

I think once we're on CPAP, we need to do everything we can to rebuild health and undo the damage of years of sleep deprivation, including good sleep hygiene, good diet, no junk foods, little to no caffeine and exercise. We need to do it in a way that respects the needs of our body at that time. There is much that doctors do not know about sleep and sleep deprivation.

Good luck to all fellow apneics who are struggling.
