Posted by Chainsaw on December 14, 2006 at 13:02:18:I snore like a chainsaw (like both my parents), have high blood pressure, am overweight, and have severe headaches in the morning. My doc says he's pretty sure it's sleep apnea, but we did an MRI first to make sure it's nothing wrong with my brain. Now I have proof that not only do I actually HAVE a brain, but it's beautiful. I could be a brain model.
I'm booked for a sleep study next week, and based on what I've read and discussions with my wife, I'm pretty sure I've got sleep apnea, this is just a formality.
To be really honest, I'm terrified of the treatment. Attempting to sleep with a machine strapped to my face sounds like a literal nightmare. I'm really here for reassurance: Is my flagging libido going to return (my wife's real keen on the answer to this one, too, for some reason)? Is it going to help my blood pressure for real since medications only seem to make a dent?
Please tell me all the wonderful things that are going to flow from this wonderful diagnosis and fantastic treatment, so I don't feel quite so much like I'm entering the "Darth Vader" period of my life. Tell me the bad stuff, too... I'll deal with it better if I know what to realistically expect.
