May I suggest the folowing authors of papers which can be found on PubMed: Babu, Boyer, Brooks, Chasens, Clark, Ip, Katsumato and Mondaini. In my quick search I did not find Punjabi in my notes, however on PubMed a “Punjabi [au] AND diabetes” search had about 12 returns. I hope some may be of use to you. Reichmuth authored a recent paper concluding that OSA is an independent cause of diabetes.
