The risk of using a CPAP machine to treat OSA? Perhaps if it works for someone, that that person may then ignore underlying health problems that should have been dealt with before the CPAP use, such as being overweight in excess (if this applies to their apnea, if not dis-regard), or not paying attention if a certain type of food allergy is causing the sleep breathing problems. In these cases, a CPAP will treat the OSA and cover up the problem. Bottom line: Don't ignore health problems that can be resolved by lifestyle changes alone, IMHO.
