I think that you will probably find that things are going to improve with CPAP. Sometimes it takes people a little while to adjust to it, so be patient. In the early stages of a patients treatment, it is common that sometimes a new CPAP user will swallow air while sleeping and have indigestion. This will go away with time. It can take time for your brain to adapt to breathing with CPAP, but do not fear, it will adapt. Of course, other people do not have any trouble adapting at all. In any case, I can tell that you ahve a very positive attitude about CPAP therapy. You are welcoming it. That attitude is key.

I recommend Dr. William Dement's book "The Promise of Sleep". There is a nice chapter on sleep apnea there, and some stories about CPAP treatment.

In time, you will get used to CPAP.
