Posted by drowsyfool on January 22, 2007 at 23:35:53:Greetings, for a while now I've been having cognitive problems. What at one time came easily to me now I can barely follow. Even something as simple understanding all the satire and subtle humor in some of my favorite comedy shows. Understanding and remembering came easily once, even without reading strategies, now after reading it feels like I come out with something like a half-understood mishmash of information and some completely misunderstood. This, even with reading strategies.
I'm not sure what is causing it. Is it anxiety, depression, sleep apnea? let me just say that in the past I used to be able to sleep 6 hours a day, falling asleep within 2 minutes from a sudden onset of drowsiness, and wake up completely energetic, without drowsiness, as if I merely blinked my eyes in the afternoon. Now, I get over 10 hours of sleep a day, taking sometimes hours to fall asleep, and I wake up drowsy, and I feel lethargic throughout the day, with low energy, low concentration and a poor memory. Now when I sleep it doesn't even feel like I sleep, it feels like I'm half-awake and half-aware, experiencing hours slowly passing by whereas my old sleep literally felt like it lasted 2 seconds long!
I do constantly wake up in my sleep. I've never really woke up gasping for air, but I have on many occasions woken up to a "choking" sensation, feeling like I'm in real danger.
What do you think?
Thanks.
