Check out the narcolepsy sleep forum and see if anything looks familiar. Even after I was treated for sleep apnea, I still was so tired. I didn't fill all the requirements for narcolepsy, but was diagnosed with ideopathic hypersomnia. I took Provigil for awhile, but had some adverse effects. Now I take Adderal and am doing well overall. I still have some nights like you describe, but very few. Don't give up on trying to find an answer and don't let the doctors give up either.
