CPAP--how long till it worked?

Posted by biracialqt on February 05, 2007 at 08:37:16:

okay, I've gone through three sleep studies, purchasing the CPAP, SURGery for deviated septum andturbinate reduction, 2 face masks, chin strap...

I DO know that I have had a couple of times where it appeared that the cpap worked for me--definately the first time that I had it at the sleep lab. so, after getting my cpap I WAS more tiered than ever, so my doc suggested deviated septum/turbinate reduction for cpap compliance. The cpap still didnt seem to work, so another study was done because my doc said that there was probably a difference in pressure required.so I went from 9 to 11.

so NOW I am using the cpap...the results aren't quite as disastrous as the first two rounds with the cpap. I kinda feel like its working, I'm not aware of waking up as often and I'm able to keep my mask on for more than half of the night (I went through a spell of not even being able to keep the thing on past 2am)...at least I'm not more exhausted than ever like my last expereince with the cpap--but I don't quite feel well-rested...

I pretty much FEEL THE SAME as I do when I dont sleep with the cpap. I've read that there is often a period of time where your body makes you repay your previous sleep debt, so it might take some time of the machine working before you finally feel the great results.

HOW LONG DID IT TAKE FOR THE CPAP TO WORK FOR YOU? HOW DID U KNOW WHEN IT WAS WORKING AS IT SHOULD?

THANKS!!!!
