They already make these, they are called Bi-Level PAP devices. Inhale and exhale can be set differently by the clinician, according to the doctor's script. The machines are sold by marketing names such as Bi-PAP (Respironics) and VPAP (ResMed). In addition, there are CPAP machines with exhale relief. The newer models from Respironics and ResMed have exhale relief features called C-Flex and ERP. For most people who suffer from sleep apnea, weight loss is also something to consider to lower the necessary pressure.
