I'm not sure why Ambien or Lunesta would make apnea worse. I use Ambien about once a week just to get a better night's sleep. It's not a narcotic; it just makes your thinking settle down so you sleep better. I guess, in theory, it might make you less aware of waking up from apnea, which might just make your sleep study more accurate, rather than less accurate. But I'm just guessing. I'm interested in what others have to say about this, so I'll know what to do for my next sleep study.
