Allergy Symptoms & Humidification

Posted by thruppence on February 23, 2007 at 14:43:37:

During winter nights my thermostat is set at sixty degrees. A cold mask and cold air were mine every night because my warm humidifier caused rainout. This winter I developed allergy-like symptoms: runny nose; wet, itchy eyes; and much sneezing. Could the cold air constantly in my airways be the culprit, I wondered. After deciding to get the humidifier working, I bought one of those heated hoses from Australia, the one that's been mentioned so often in this forum. It worked! Ten days of warm, moist air later and my symptoms are almost gone. I hope my experience helps someone else out there who's using cold air and experiencing allergy-like symptoms.
