Cost of split study?

Posted by rosemary on February 27, 2007 at 22:22:37:

I've been ordered a split study, and when I asked how much it would be (since I have no insurance and my retired parents are paying for it), they said "up to $6,093."

This is at the Stanford clinic, for reference. Is it likely to BE that much? Can I go elsewhere, or is this another case of "everything is more expensive in California?"

I'm applying to their financial aid program, but I have no idea if I'll qualify or if I'll qualify in time (it's scheduled for this Sunday), or what the financial aid consists of. So I'm pretty panicked.

The reason I went there is because that's where my original study and diagnosis was done, when I had insurance, and I loved the staff there. But now I wonder if I should have gone somewhere else, assuming there is somewhere else reputable and convenient.

Please let me know what you think. Thanks.
