After three different sleep studies gave three wildly different pressure settings (12, then 9, then 16), I puchased, out of my own pocket, an autopap, complete with the software. On monitoring my own nightly data, I discovered that I needed the highest reading (16) only occasionally and most of the night was spent within the 13-15 range.

I have mild asthma and severe allergies. Depending on your own circumstances and health status, you might do very well following a similar route. A sleep study is a snapshot of a single night. An autopap provides nightly data over a long range of time. Depending on what the autopap reveals, you might be able to at least delay the formal study at the sleep lab.

You didn't give any background for the reasons for the follow-up study, so it's hard to comment on what you might need. Good luck to you.
