It sounds very scary to me to be taking any sort of sleep aid when you're having central apneas. Have you spoken to your doctor about this? You might also want to post on the insomnia forum.

I don't know anything about central apneas, but from what you've posted, I would hope you are under the care of a top-notch panel of specialists in neurology and sleep medicine.
