New machine for centrals

Posted by rkf on March 14, 2007 at 04:02:25:

My pulmonologist told me about a new machine approved for central sleep apnea. It is some sort of assist device. Evidently it determines your breathing patterns as you are falling asleep. When it senses distressed breathing it supplies only enough pressure to meet the demand. When not needed, the air supply is minimal. I guess it is sort of like a bipap except the pressure isn't increasing and decreasing at regular intervals and it is sort of like autopap as it senses demand but again, it only supplies pressure whn needed. Has anyone heard of this or used it?
