It sounds to me like your daughter has sleep apnea. This is not uncommon with children and it is caused from enlarged tonsils/adenoids. These can easily be removed and will greatly benefit her quality of life.

I would make an appointment with a pediatric ENT immediately and possibly get a 2nd opinion if he doesn't agree. I have read so many stories where this has really hindered the child's quality of life and it could have been easily solved.

It is crucial to have this solved early on because it will affect the development of your child at the most important time of her life. She has obvious signs of OSA -- snoring and pauses in breathing followed by gasps or deep breaths.

This is a very serious problem with a very simple solution. Please get this addressed ASAP.
