As I said in a previous post, I have been using APAP for many years now and have been 'away' from the world of sleep apnea and am way out of date with the latest and greatest.
Since my APAP machine just broke, I've reverted to a spare machine I've had tucked away in the cupboard that I have never used much before, and this machine is a CPAP.
After being so used to APAP, I wasn't sure how I'd go with the CPAP, but maybe surprisingly to me, it's gone quite well.
I know from the APAP what pressure I'd normally sit on in sleeping, so I set the CPAP to something a little bit higher than that. Although the CPAP is a noisier machine, I've found so far that I am feeling quite good after using it. Sleep quality has been better than the APAP. Only early days yet, but so far so good.
So, I was wondering then. I've always been of the impression that APAP was 'better' than CPAP because it varies pressure to the user, rather than using a set 'guesstimate' pressure setting that doesn't vary to how the user is feeling during the night (as in how tired, etc). Now, because of my recent experiences, I'm wondering if this is true???
What do you think? Which of CPAP or APAP produces better results in terms of sleep quality and how you feel when you wake up after a night's sleep? Is there an easy answer to this, or is it a case of "whatever works best for you"???
I'm interested in your thoughts about this.
And apologies if this is something that has been covered before - I haven't done a search on it as yet.
Many thanks.
