Hi - Thank you so much for responding and for the suggestions.
Regarding the weight - I'm not that much over-weight - at 6' I'm at 201 lbs but have been watching my diet and lost 17 lbs over the past 8 weeks.
Thank you for the info on C-Flex, a term I wasn't familiar with, however I did check to see what the unit I have is...it is a REMstar/auto with C-Flex. I remember 10 years ago I was put on a CPAP and I found it very difficult to exhale with the constant pressure, which is why I was then switched to a bi-pap, then recently this REMstar. I do have problems with leakage from the mask, which shows up on the printout - however its hard to pinpoint as when I fall asleep I have the mask tight(if not too tight) to try to minimize leakage, and when I wake, the mask is still in tack. Since I take sleeping aids, it could be that as I fall asleep, I get into a position where the mask is moved by the pillow or something like that. I do have severe positional apnea - laying on my back is far worse, however as fate has it, that is the most comfortable position I can be to eliminate the neck and back pain.
I do have the dental device that you mentioned, specifically the 'clearway' which moves my lower jaw forward. I've been wearing it for 6 years and I do feel it makes a difference. When I initially got it, I noticed a big difference and don't dare sleep without it. I've tried using the cpap with and without the dental device and still no difference. I can honestly say that the only difference between using the cpap is that in the morning, I feel like my lungs have been pumped with more air, but I don't feel any more rested.
Regarding surgery, that will be my last attempt to sleep well. Right now, I'm planning on coming off all of my medications (over the years, doctors have thrown so much medication at me it's unbelievable) with the help of a specialist. I still believe that the pain plays a major role is the sleep disturbance. In speaking with my sleep doctor, he said that surgery is an option and he spoke about resetting my jaw, something with the tongue and soft palette and said that he was concerned about how bad the apena is when I'm on my back.
It's pretty darn frustrating - I would give everything to be able to wake feeling refreshed. I've always heard the statement 'if you have your health, you have everything' and that is the absolute truth - with me, if you can sleep at night, it is everthing.
I'm very curious about the 'vibrations' that my doc spoke about - if you happen to read this, any ideas on this?
Again, I thank you for your time and for sharing this information.
Kindest Regards!
