Can't sleep/no restoration from it

Posted by Tulerr on March 29, 2007 at 20:13:13:

I've had sleep tests performed (I spent the night in the hospital) but I've been told that I'm "fine"

Here's what happens. I took the sleep test on this site, it mentioned sleep apnea, Insomnia and Narcolepsy. (I'm posting here because apena came first)

Firstly, when I go to bed it takes between 30 minutes to 4 hours for me to fall asleep.

My issue is that no matter how much I sleep (I've slept for 4/6/8/10/12 hours) I feel the same. I've had the sleep apnea test performed, as I mentioned, but they said everything was fine. I was given a form of antidepressant that was to assist with my sleeping (I am not depressed in the slightest) but that had no affect whatsoever.

I'm 20 years old, over 6 feet tall and approx 150lbs. I exercise and am not too out of shape and have had difficulty sleeping for about 4-5 years (that I can remember).

I believe it's having an adverse affect on my memory (I can't remember much of anything), I can sleep any time (though I don't fall asleep without my allowing so).

I've tried milk, honey and an assortment of natural drops but nothing has had any affect at all. I feel tired all the time and it's causing a lot of problems with my schooling.

When I drink coffee I sometimes feel a little energized, but I feel tired regardless of having a little more energy.

I do not snore and do not kick, when I took the test at the hospital I was slightly restless because the bed was uncomfortable.

My doctor recommended having something attached to me for several days (a box with some cords that would measure various things). I have not done this because I work and go to school and feel it would be akward, but if I must then I must.

I sweat more than usual (if that matters).

I was wondering if anyone had anything similar to this (I read quite a bit, but didn't find anything incredibly similar to what I am experiencing) or if anyone knew of anything I haven't tried that I should try.

Any help would be great. Thanks.
