My mother-in-law had one of these machines and the "smartstart" wasn't too smart. It was set so sensitive that opening the door to her room would cause enough of a pressure differential to turn it on. Just keep an eye on it so that it doesn't start itself and run a long time on its own without you being attached to it. That would cause raised eyebrows on whoever reads the "smart card" (which isn't smart enough to discern when or why this occurs.)
