If a user feels better to clean their equipment, then do it. Soap and water is recommended by the makers to CLEAN. No where does it say that sterilizing or disinfecting it is needed.

This issue of pathogens being spread from the humidifier persists although there is no risk.
The ignorance is with those who make these uninformed assumptions.
