batteries for air travel

Posted by BlueDacnis on April 04, 2007 at 16:42:05:

In 2003 I posted a question about battery backup in the home - got some good advice. I bought a deep cycle marine battery and have used it on occassion. Now a related but different question.

I like to travel but have generally avoided overnight flights due to my apnea. Recently I saw lithium-ion batteries advertised on a well known commercial apnea products web site. The largest capacity battery weighs only 5 pounds and will apparently support a xPAP for 20+ hours. Obviously I would have to contact the airline pre-flight for permission to use such a device, but I was wondering if anyone has any experience with these batteries, especially during overnight flights. Thanks
