Cap, a lot depends on the kind of machine you have. My newest machine will operate on either a/c house current or 12 volt dc. If the power were to be off for an extended time, I could either sleep in the car (not my first choice) or run an extension cord with home-made adapters from the car to my machine. The most foolproof method would be to use a portable generator OUTSIDE my home and run an extension cord from that directly to your CPAP. In a real pinch, one of the local fire companies would set up a generator for my use due to "life sustaining medical equipment." (their definition, not mine) Of course, until I retire, I could always sleep in the sleeper berth of my truck. (where I spend 4 or 5 nights a week anyway)
