All I want is the correct diagnosis, really. I don't want to get hung up in a diagnosis of apnea if that's not what it is. If it's apnea, sure, I'll try the CPAP. But this whole situation...I just think they are jumping to conclusions.

What I hope is that someone knows if a sleep technician really CAN tell even though you have a severe cold if what they are seeing is apnea or just a cold. How hard do doctors usually work to figure out if you actually have apnea? My first sleep study showed no signs of it and I was declared to have no problems that required further investigation. There was no suggestion that maybe they just missed it and the test needs to be repeated. But now, they see something, and instantly I am declared to have apnea. Is this the usual procedure for diagnosis? Something about the whole thing just seems very fishy.
