How many different masks

I've been using my BPAP/CPAP for a little over 7 months. When I went in to pick up the equipment the DME manager just handed me a mask and told that it should work fine. No measuring no questions. It was a full face model and I had a lot of trouble with leakage especially around the nose. I went back a couple weeks later and she gave me another size of the same brand. Same problem. A couple more weeks went by and I went back and tried a different brand, full face. Same problem. The only way I could get any of them to work was to pull the straps very tight which made the whole deal very uncomfortable and cause my face to break out. I'm 54 and had never had acne in my life but was working up a good case with these things. I finally tried a nasal mask with a chin strap. Its better and I can generally tolerate that mask all night but I'm thinking there has to be something better, not just tolerable.

Here is a question. I like having the machine and am not giving it up but, 1. How many masks have some of you tried before finding the right combination for you. 2. Who paid for all the trial and error.

After looking on the internet I'm finding that the DME we had randomly picked is charging WAAAAAAY more than I see there. We have a very large insurance deductable and I am currious about how others are dealing with simular situations. 3. Are you buying out of pocket looking for the cheapest prices or are you going the insurance route? 4. We have several DME's to choose from in our area, is it a problem to change after we have started with one. 5. Will we find they all charge pretty much the same.
