I have had similar experiences although not connected with sleep apnea to my knowledge. It happens occasionally shortly after falling asleep where my whole body seems to have a brief spasm. I wake up briefly and fall asleep again. Sometimes I think it is accompanied by a dream in which I am falling or some other traumatic event. I've never been too concerned about these events.
